Catholic Filipino Academy Homechooling Orientation

We woke up today at around 6am in anticipation for the traffic we are to face while on our way to Cubao for the CFA Homeschooling Orientation which will start by 9am. And true enough, we arrived at the office around 9:50am.

The people there were very nice and accommodating. Good thing I had pre-registered over the phone, though I don't think it's really necessary. It's nice to see fellow moms and dads like us who are interested about homeschooling.

So then the talk began. It was composed of two parts. The first part basically gave us a better understanding of what homeschooling is about and it's pros and cons. This was done by Sir Rene and the sharing was by Ms. Jen, one of the best homeschooling parent they have. What I really loved is the sharing by the CFA staff of how they go about homeschooling and the trials they faced. It truly is very inspiring.

On the second part of the discussion, Ms. Lizette explained to us what the Catholic Filipino Academy is all about; their programs and fees. I love the fact that the Nursery reading Program has been integrated to the Kinder curriculum, thus cutting it's cost from P8,000 to P2,000. We also had a little question and answer portion at the end of her presentation.

All in all is what worth the travel from Montalban to Cubao. I mean, it's really something I'm considering for my kids. My only worry is that I may not be patient enough to teach them and that I may not be doing enough. But after hearing Ms.Jen's story, it really inspired me to pursue homeschooling my kids.

So, my husband and I will just talk it over later and fill out the questionnaire they gave before I call their office to schedule the interview. My son is just 4 years old and I'll try to enroll him under their Kinder program. Hopefully it'll work out well. I am just looking forward to being able to teach him how to read and write and just have a love for learning. I know it won't be an easy journey, but I do know that God has called me into this calling. After all, no one can teach my child best but me.

So for all mom's out there who are considering homeschooling as an option, don't hesitate to look around for there are many DepEd accredited homeschool providers in our country. You may also want to check the Catholic Filipino Academy by going to their website www.catholicfilipinoacademy.com.
